Our Story
Jerod Doty is a full-time firefighter with a passion for farming. This passion is rooted in traditions much older than him. His ancestors purchased their first farm in the late 1800's. Although some have passed, they planted the seeds of respect for this land that sustains us and those seeds continue to grow. Jerod has worked on his family's Northern Illinois farm for his whole life, following in the footsteps of those who came before him. He is a lifelong learner, and has spent years experimenting, researching, and expanding his farming repertoire. Always on the lookout for the next adventure, he decided it was time to bring cattle back to the farm. Thus, Doty Cattle Company was born in 2016. We specialize in corn-fed USDA certified beef. Location
Our farm is located just outside of Mineral, IL, about 45 miles East of the Quad Cities, Iowa and 140 miles West of Chicago. We take our cattle to Johnson's Processing, a USDA certified meat locker in Chadwick, IL.

Pricing
We sell our beef for $2.35- $2.50/pound. You can purchase a quarter, half, or whole beef. The amount of meat will vary depending on the size of the cow, but rough estimates are included below:
1/4 beef: 200-250 pounds
1/2 beef: 400-500 pounds
Whole beef: 800-1000 pounds

The above estimates are "hanging weights" and are subject to a cutting loss. You will walk away with roughly 75% of the above weights when you pick up your meat. There is a separate processing fee that you will pay directly to the butcher.
The Process
If you are interested in purchasing meat, or if you just want to learn more about us, you can contact Jerod via email or phone. Our information is located below. If you decide to purchase meat from us, we will contact you when we take the calves to Johnson Processing, and you will call the butcher to choose whatever cuts of meat you want. Your meat will be ready approximately 2 weeks after we take the calves. If you have any questions throughout the process, Jerod is available to help!
